So true...

WARNING... GRAPHIC CONTENT BELOW...

Consider yourself warned... if you can't stand visually painful images, you may want to skip over this post or look away.   So while at my mom's house she was able to capture a couple of pictures of Brody and his little bloody eyes. Aren't these some of the saddest images you ever saw of a little 2 year old??   He is still hangin' tough... though he is so clingy and wants to be held a lot, but I'm not one to let an opportunity to snuggle with him get away from me so I'm lovin' every minute of it... although I wish it was under better circumstances. We have a follow up appointment with his eye specialist on Monday so it will be interesting to see what the doc says about the prognosis.

Eye Muscle Repair Surgery... CHECK!

Definition Eye muscle surgery is preformed to weaken, strengthen, or reposition any of the extraocular muscles (small muscles) located on the surface of the eye that move the eyeball in all directions. Purpose The extraocular muscles attach via tendons to the sclera (the white, opaque, outer protective covering of the eyeball) at different places just behind an imaginary equator circling the top, bottom, left, and right of the eye. The other end of each of these muscles attaches to a part of the orbit (the eye socket in the skull). These muscles enable the eyes to move up, down, to one side or the other, or any angle in between. Eye muscle surgery is also performed to treat such other eye disorders as nystagmus ; nystagmus is a condition in which one or both eyes move rapidly or oscillate; this condition can be improved by moving the eyes to the position of least oscillation.  Brody is such a trooper, I on the other hand was a complete mess as they took him from my arms to the surgery

First Day of School

There will be bigger hallways and bigger kids. There will be new sounds, new friends and new teachers whose names might sound scary at first. She'll line up, look back and file inside and at that moment you'll realize this is your first day of school too . (and if this sounds familiar it's because I stole it from a Children's Place ad..... it all too perfectly sums up my day today.) So this was the moment I have been both looking forward to and dreading since the day she was born.  And even though she is the big sister, the big helper, the BIG girl in our house -- she never seemed smaller in her entire life as she did today.   I went to the school during lunch to visit with her, to check in on her (and mostly to bring her a lunch because I could not make up my mind this morning before we left for school if she is going to be the kid that buys lunches or brings from home) and for reasons I'll explain below I should not have done this.  It took everything I had

A night out... (thank you Grandma & Grandpa)

On Thursday we went out to support our very good friend who plays in a band (he's a drummer and he is extremely talented and good) and watched them at what we think was a try-out or audition to be the opening band for a large music fest coming up in September sponsored by a local radio station.  We don't know when they find out if they get the gig, but they were by far the BEST band out of the 3 that played that night.  We always have lots of fun hanging out with Jim and Jamie at these shows... I think we've only missed one or maybe 2 shows since Jim joined the band over a year ago and they play at least once a month.  Really we're just paying our dues so when he becomes rich and famous we can say we know him and maybe he'll give us a job as a roadie or something!! :-) Here are some pics from the night... Me and the hubby... Me and Jamie... the band...

now for the real story

So I "whipped up" this cute storyboard of some pics I took of Sam and posted on my other blog . But I just want you all to know that behind those adorable blue eyes and that faint little grin is a true negotiator who refuses to let a good deal slip away. Oh ya... one would think that my house would be crawling with opportunities for me to work on my photography and that I would never be without a subject or model... oh, no!! Let me set the record straight that everytime my camera emerges from its bag, our house is suddenly transformed into some ghost town relic complete with blowing tumbleweeds.  That can't be good??!!  And so began my bargaining with Sam to see what it would be worth for just 5 minutes of her time to snap some photos.  The bidding started with 1 piece of candy and we finally settled on 3 pieces of candy, but one of the pieces would have to be gum... that was her final offer... I could take it or leave it.  As you can see, I took the offer and she didn&#

Random pictures to share...

I've been bad about not posting anything last week, so here are a few old random photos of this kiddos. Things have been a bit quite around the house - I'm not complaining.  Scott is gearing up to take his state board test again... Sam starts school next monday on the 11th... and the twins are, well being everything a 2 year old should be.
